After the successful launch of Motorola Droid X, Verizon is all set to release another Droid branded and Android powered phone next month. There are rumors that Verizon Wireless is planning to release Motorola Droid 2 in August.  The confirmed release date of Droid 2 is not out but many believe that it will be either August 12 or August 23.

Verizon is expected to start accepting the pre-orders of its phone by early next month. The phone will be sold in the nation-wide retail stores of wireless carrier and it could also be ordered on online store of the wireless service provider.

Motorola Droid 2 features 1GHz microprocessor, 512MB Random Access Memory (RAM), high meg-pixel camera, slide out QWERTY keyboard and many other features. One of the most remarkable thing about Droid 2 is that it will be the first ever phone having Android 2.2 Froyo out of box.  The phone has smaller display size than that of Motorola Droid X. Motorola Droid 2 is considered as the true successor of original Motorola Droid.
