Android 2.2 Froyo update to Motorola Droid X: What is the reason?

Motorola Droid X comes with Android 2.1 which is the old version of the OS. The promised Android 2.2 Froyo push to the device is still awaited by Droid X owners.
There are reports that the nation’s largest carrier is having issues with Microsoft Exchange Sync in the Droid X version of Android 2.2. However the actual reason is not known. Verizon has not officially stated the reason behind the delay of Froyo update to Droid X.
According to media reports that Android 2.2 is going to come to Droid X in the summer 2010. Summer 2010 will end in three days on September 21 and there is still no word from Verizon and Motorola about the Android 2.2 update to Droid X.
