Verizon iPhone is one of the over reporting stories on the internet and however it is not a reason to tune out investors.  According to Strategy analytics, Apple could double its sales of iPhone in some markets around the world. In France, for instances, iPhone is now offered at three carriers  which result in market share jumped from 3% to 11% between first and third quarters.

Apple had 23.8% of the US market in the first three quarters of 2010.  At the same time, it is hard to say whether France strategy will work in US given Verizon has more retail contracts customers than the iPhone’s exclusive U.S carriers.  However, Apple may increase its US market share to 35% if company offers its iPhone with Verizon, according to Canalys estimations.

As Canalys’s most recent estimate puts the U.S. market in 2011 at 85 million units, a 35% share would be nearly 30 million sales. That is 144% above the firm’s projection for Apple’s 2010 sales.

According to various media reports, Apple is planning to bring its Verizon iPhone by the start of 2011 and possible iPhone 5 will be launched in middle of 2011.

London, Sep 21: Boeing is developing a solar-powered unmanned aircraft that will remain aloft for five years.

The SolarEagle is designed to soar in the upper atmosphere for years on end, feeding surveillance and intelligence information to the ground.

The US military has given Boeing a $89 million contract to develop a SolarEagle demonstrator vehicle which will make its first flight in 2014.

During testing, the SolarEagle demonstrator will remain in the upper atmosphere for 30 days, harvesting solar energy during the day that will be stored in fuel cells and used to provide power through the night, reports the Daily Mail.

The aircraft will have highly efficient electric motors and propellers and a 400-foot wing for increased solar power and aerodynamic performance.

“SolarEagle is a uniquely configured, large unmanned aircraft designed to eventually remain on station at stratospheric altitudes for at least five years,” said Pat O’Neil, Boeing Phantom Works program manager.

“That’s a daunting task, but Boeing has a highly reliable solar-electric design that will meet the challenge in order to perform persistent communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions from altitudes above 60,000 feet.”
