Google is planning to launch a pay-per-view movie section on its popular video site YouTube, according to a report Monday in the Financial Times.

The web giant has reportedly been holding talks with the major Hollywood studios in order to snag films for its new service which would compete with existing sites like Netflix, iTunes and Hulu, as well as the rapidly dwindling neighbourhood video stores.

Google and the Associated Press have reached a new deal that will allow the web-search giant to continue running stories from the AP on its Google News site, the internet company said Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the announcement, which was posted on Google’s official blog.

Google has not been linking directly to breaking AP stories since January when a previous agreement between the two sides expired. However Google still referred readers to older AP stories, and to AP stories at AP clients websites under a temporary licensing agreement.

After the announcement to support high definition 720p and then 1080p, YouTube has now announced that it is providing a new resolution for video display. Yes it is 4096p or 4K (4096 x 3072 pixels). The extreme high resolution is often used when making commercial films.

“We always want videos on YouTube to be available in the highest quality possible, as creators intend.” said Ramesh Sarukkai in the official blog.

“At 4096 x 2304 pixels, 4K is over four times the size of 1080p” continued the YouTube engineer. “To view any video in a source resolution greater than 1080p, select ‘Original’ in the video quality pulldown menu:”

To achieve such a high quality image, it must obviously meet two criteria. Firstly, the amateur filmmaker must be equipped with a camera capable of recording content in such a definition. For now, these devices remain out of reach of many of us.

The launch of Droid X has attracted alot of attention before its launch. There are many Droid fanatics like me who can not wait to get a hold of one and there are many who can’t stand to Apple iPhone and need some replacement. Droid X is compared with Apple iPhone 4 at the same level .

The launch date is expected to be July 15th. Best Buy has restarted taking pre-orders for the new Droid phone since the company was out of stock with first pre-order drive. Best Buy claims that company will ship new devices as soon as Verizon releases it that will be July 15th.

Google users were given new feature today by Search Giant to customize your page by adding an option to select a background image on the Google homepage. The feature is available to global version of Google. At the bottom left of the page there is a link called “Change background image.” Through the link, the user can upload a new image, choose your own photos or public Picasa Web Photos add photos or recommended by Google.
